Editing Process for Music Video

12/5 After all our filming from the beach, to our group members house, to Las Olas we have finally completed the recording process. It has been a fun journey working on my project with my friends, we learned how to work together and listen to each others opinions on what should we do. Thankfully, we all finished our filming in time when we weren't busy with other things in our life. Finally it was time for us to edit. We each split our work equally. I did the first part of the editing, another member did the second, and another group member finished the last part of the music video. Since we were doing it on a group members computer we chose to use iMovie for us to edit our music video. We all discussed the plan and our ideas for what we want to include. We were all together when editing for it to be easier for all of us. We had our own biased opinions but in the end we came to agreement for all of our editing choices.
Since I was doing the first part of our editing process I wanted to start it with cool transitions to match the fun vibe of the song. Each of us did this under the supervision of each person in our group. At first we were a bit confused on how to use iMovie but we watch the videos on how to edit. With the help of my group member we all figured out how to use it. I came to a conclusion it was easier than Pinnacle Studios. A person in our group has had a lot of experience using iMovie so with her help we were able to figure it out. I included transitions like fade in, fade, out, jump cuts, and more. Since we are not fully done with our editing. We will continue to work on it tomorrow. we tried our best to make it look professional but we still have work to finish.
Two of our group members continue to do the second and third portion. With the help of the videos and our group member, we were able to learn so much more about the editing process. I’m excited for the next projects that come in store. It is still not fully easy, but me and my group are getting there. I’m glad to work with my friends since we are comfortable explaining our opinions and ideas. We all learned more about editing shots. Our notes from our AICE media class were very helpful. I hope to become a greater film editor throughout this year. So far we have all improved immensely from our last filming project. I believe my group and I work well together and will have a great finished product.

Film Blog Music Video

12/2 For our filming process we started a bit late because the whole group was busy during thanksgiving break. We also each had a lot of homework but we began as soon as possible. All of us planned to go home to one of our group members house because it is closest to the school. Since my role was to find good costumes and location I decided to watch some summer music videos for some ideas. We changed into our costumes and made sure to charge the phone we used to film. We arrived at Fort. Lauderdale beach with a legal guardian and we began to film. We filmed at locations like in the car, on the sand, and the walkway. The water is too cold to actually go in, in November so we just made it seem like it was a hot summer on the sand. We wanted to do other things at the beach to match the aesthetic of the song. We stayed for about an hour and a half at Lauderdale by-the-sea. After we finished we all planned to go back to our group members house to continue filming in the home setting.
At our group members house, we were coming up with ideas of what we wanted to include in our music video. We planned to film inside our group members room because she has fun colorful LED lights. We wanted it to seem as if we are all chilling and dancing to the song. However, we had small problems with the natural lighting. Since our group member did not have dark curtains to block out the light to just show the room lights we had to improvise. We came up with and idea and we used cardboard boxes to block out the light to continue on setting up for our video. We got the shots and angles we needed for our quick music video. Once we finished with that we got dressed to go out for a "night on the town". We were all dressed and ready. Since our music video will only be for a min and a few seconds we are going to try hard to fit all the scenes we want.
To film the last few scenes of the music video, our group members mother took us to Las Olas. In the scene we are walking along the sidewalk of the city to view shops and scenery.
While we walked around we had our group members mom supervise us to make sure of our safety. Since we were in public we made sure to be very considerate to not get anyones faces or make anyone angry. We made sure not to be in anyones way or disturb anyone. We also made sure that wherever we filmed along the beach was safe and not sketchy or dangerous. My roles in the filming process were to be sure of containing the right costumes and location. So I made us film in nice places that fit the songs theme. Thankfully we were provided transportation to all these places. During filming, Our main goal was to include as much stuff as we could that we wrote and drew on the story board. We also made last minute decisions to add different shots and angles to make our music video look as best as it can to fit the "summer vibe".
